Lana Del Rey’s dreamy cover of Sublime’s 1997 classic “Doin’ Time” is a definite Song Of The Summer contender. The Norman Fucking Rockwell singer pulls off a dazzling magic trick by staying painstakingly close to the original and still somehow making the track her own. That achievement has been rewarded with love from both rock and alternate radio as well as impressive streaming numbers. Which puts Lana in the unexpected position of having a rather large, accidental hit on her hands.

“Doin’ Time” has been bouncing around Billboard’s Bubbling Under chart for a couple of weeks, but it should make a leap into the top 100 thanks to the arrival of a blissful video. A sun-dappled, high-camp homage to 1958 cult classic Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman, the clip finds an outsized Lana strolling the streets of downtown LA before making her way to Venice Beach. It turns out, our heroine is just watching a movie at the drive-in… or is she? Watch the instantly iconic video below.
