Adam Lambert’s Velvet era is coming together very nicely. After dropping a couple of buzz tracks to set the mood, the Glamorous One is readying the release of Velvet: Side A. The first portion of his long-awaited fourth album arrives September 27. Interestingly, previous songs “New Eyes” and “Comin In Hot” did not make the tracklist. However, today (September 4) we’re getting our first taste of the project with the unveiling of “Superpower.” Written alongside Ilsey Juber and Tommy English, Adam’s latest is another rollicking, retro-inspired anthem.

This time around, the 37-year-old is making a serious statement. “There’s something missing, and I’m pissed. And I’ve got something to say,” he warns. “All of the witches and the demons better get out of my way.” That warning leads into a build-up for the chorus. “Try to put me in a box. Make me something I’m not. Don’t give a fuck ’cause I’m gonna take back my superpower.” Vocals are served on the empowering bop. And the accompanying video, directed by Millicent Hailes, is equally glam. After driving up in a vintage car, Adam snatches his own wig before a quick wardrobe change.

Then we’re treated to a rainbow of bright looks, a bit of choreography and plenty of shots of Adam saving the day. Dripping in personality, it is yet another win for the superstar this era. Give it a view and fall in love with “Superpower” below.
