Pop masterminds MAX and Kim Petras join forces for a remix of “Love Me Less.” Out today (September 5), their update breathes new life into the relatable bop about testing the limits of love. The original version (which featured an appearance from Quinn XCII) amassed an impressive 68 million Spotify streams. It also rocketed into the Top 20 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart. And MAX’s latest take on the track could become just as big. On it, the Woo-Ah Princess chimes in for a verse about her own perceived romantic shortcomings. And it’s predictably excellent.

“Would you love me less if I spent your cash on designer bags,” she asks. “On a trip to France? $150,000, and it’s just the weekend. Would you love me more or love me less?” Kim’s line of questioning continues and only becomes more iconic. “If I crash the car on Sunday, would you love me less on Monday?” The Clarity diva joins MAX for some additional vocals throughout the back half of the anthem. The end result is a fresh if slightly belated reimagining of MAX’s biggest hit since “Lights Down Low.” Interestingly, it also serves as a sequel of sorts to the heartfelt smash.

MAX shared some insight about that in an exclusive interview earlier this year. “I wrote it about a year after being married to my wife Emily. It’s sort of the realistic evolution of the love story to ‘Lights Down Low,'” he said. “I rewrote it over and over again for about a year and a half until it felt just right to release into the world.” Fall in love with the remixed version below.
