“Sorry I was late on the song of the summer,” Diplo stated humbly when announcing Major Lazer’s latest single. And, you know what, he might have been right. Featuring Colombian superstar J Balvin and Dominican rapper El Alfa, “Que Calor” is a genre-blending banger that takes inspiration from each of its collaborators’ homelands. (It samples Toto La Momposina’s cumbia classic “Curara” and explores Dominican dembow rhythms). Not only that, but it also works as a rump-shaking floorfiller with enough hooks to demolish the language barrier.

As usual, Major Lazer comes through with an impressive visual. Directed by the ever-reliable Colin Tilley, the video features a lot of rump-shaking dancers and a water-covered dais. “Que Calor” is the third track to emerge from the enduring EDM trio’s upcoming 4th LP. (Which is reportedly titled Music Is The Weapon). It follows the Anitta-assisted “Make It Hot” and “Can’t Take It From Me” featuring Skip Marley. Check out Major Lazer’s latest banger below. This is best played as loud as possible.
