Bebe Rexha Flies High On The Empowering “You Can’t Stop The Girl”

Bebe Rexha celebrates strong women on “You Can’t Stop The Girl.” Out today (September 20), her Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil soundtrack contribution is a soaring anthem. “Oh, they tryna shoot down angels. They tryna pull their wings off so they can’t fly,” she warns on the opening lines. But one belabored angel refuse to back down. “She’s so brave though. Just like a tornado, she’s taking us by a storm.” That leads into the powerful and direct chorus. “You can’t stop the girl from going. You can’t stop the world from knowing. The truth will set you free.”

The “Not 20 Anymore” siren is serving vocals on the timely track, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes her next big hit. All it needs is a bit of a promotional push, which it is bound to get with the movie dropping next month. Thematically, Bebe’s latest draws some pretty obvious parallels to Disney’s titular winged anti-hero. Hopefully, it is prominently featured during an action sequence. I can already picture Angelina Jolie sweeping in to save the day while this plays, and it is definitely iconic. Give “You Can’t Stop The Girl” a listen and check out its lyric video below.
