Hold on to your wigs, which are about to be snatched. Why? Because Lindsay Lohan is back, and pop music is saved. Fans have been patiently awaiting the “Bossy” diva’s return to the industry for years now. Last month, she stirred the pot by teasing a new song called “Xanax.” Well, the track, her first single in over a decade, officially arrived last night (September 23). At least, it kind of did. The 33-year-old quietly uploaded it to IGTV. And unsurprisingly the ALMA-assisted release is an absolute smash.

On it, the “Rumors” hitmaker delivers some seemingly autobiographical lyrics. “I don’t like the parties in LA. I go home in a bad mood, pass out, wake up alone,” Lindsay laments. However there is a twist on the chorus. “I got social anxiety. But you’re like Xanax to me. Social anxiety. When you kiss me I can’t breathe.” She paired the track with a stripped-back video. “This video is a compilation of vignettes of life,” she explained on Instagram. “Family, love, the process of moving forward and letting go of the past.”

“To live and be happy, free of fear. Just to be grateful and open our eyes to our opportunities instead of numbing the mind.” So far “Xanax” hasn’t been uploaded to any other streaming services. It is also unclear if this is the final official video. However, nothing changes the fact that it is wonderful to hear new music from Lindsay after all these years.
