A Shakira Concert Film
Shakira is releasing a concert film in theaters worldwide on November 13.

Mariah Carey isn’t the only superstar with a resurgent hit from the 2000s. Shakira is also enjoying a mini-revival courtesy of “Don’t Bother.” The criminally-overlooked lead single from Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 has inexplicably exploded on YouTube — racking up more than 15 million views in the last five days. That’s more than enough to catapult the 2005 pop/rock anthem into YouTube’s weekly top 20. What caused the surge in views? It’s something of a mystery given that the Colombian queen is currently off-cycle. Maybe taste finally won?

Or, more likely, “Don’t Bother” has been synched somewhere in Latin America. Whatever the case may be, I’m thrilled that the song is having a second life. As I’ve said before, this is one of the forgotten gems in Shakira’s discography. It deserved every Grammy for the iconic lyrics, which cover everything from Tai Chi to communism. Oh and there’s this poetic moment. “She’s almost six feet tall, she must think I’m a flea,” the living legend laments. “I’m really a cat, you see and it’s not my last life at all.” Her mind.

In other Shakira news, the flawless 42-year-old is releasing Shakira In Concert: El Dorado World Tour on November 13. The film will be shown on over 2000 screens (!) in more than 60 countries. Get even more excited for that event by revisiting “Don’t Bother” below.
