Ariana Grande Joins Kristin Chenoweth For “You Don’t Own Me” Cover

Ariana Grande absolutely refuses to take her heel off our necks. The ponytailed pop princess churned out a remarkable amount of content in 2019. That includes an album (her second in less than 6 months) and several collabs. Most recently there’s “Don’t Call Me Angel” with Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey. Impressively, she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Today (September 27), she returns to bless us with another new project. This time around the 26-year-old lends her voice to Kristin Chenoweth’s album For The Girls.

The big-voiced divas join forces on a cover of “You Don’t Own Me.” Originally recorded by Lesley Gore in the ’60s, the song has remained a pop culture staple. It played a role in First Wives Club (which previously inspired an Ari performance) in the ’90s. The anthem reemerged when a cover by Grace and G-Eazy featured on the soundtrack for Suicide Squad. And no one should be surprised to learn that Ari and Kristin’s take is a dreamy and empowering win. “I have always loved you and i always will,” Ari enthused about the opportunity on Instagram.

“Congratulations on your new album and thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me be a part ! i truly can’t put into words how much it means to me ! i truly can’t believe this is even real.” Kristin hopped on social media with a message for all of her collaborators including Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and Jennifer Hudson. “Thank you to my GIRLS for joining me to create magic.” Check out the lyric video for her Ari collab below.
