Maren Morris Calls On Hozier For A New Version Of “The Bones”
As a general rule, you shouldn’t mess with perfection. But there are exceptions. Like the new and improved version of Maren Morris’ “The Bones.” The country superstar transforms the ballad into a duet with a little help from Hozier. After trading verses, the somewhat-unlikely collaborators come together for the rest of the song — harmonizing in a way that elevates it to a rawer, more emotional place. “The Bones” is already making steady progress on multiple Billboard charts, but this should expand its reach considerably.
“When I first heard ‘Like Real People Do’ I think I could actually hear my heart breaking and then immediately felt songwriter envy that I didn’t write it first,” Maren says in reference to one of the songs on the Irish singer/songwriter’s debut album. It turns out, Hozier was equally smitten with her music. “Something of love’s enduring nature really comes through on ‘The Bones,’ it’s a gorgeous song. I was delighted to be asked to sing with [Maren] on this track – she is such a wonderful artist.” Listen below.
