Charli XCX collaborated with an impressive list of friends and musical heavy-hitters on her self-titled album. It is admittedly great to hear her shaping the future of pop with the likes of Troye Sivan, Lizzo and Christine and the Queens. However, I should note that her solo output on the LP is even better. One of the clear highlights is “White Mercedes.” On it, the pop-saving angel comes to grips with how her fast and free lifestyle affects a relationship. “When your heart is breaking, you keep on taking me back,” she sings. “Hurting you feels like I’m hurting as well.”

That builds up to one last realization: “All I know is I don’t deserve you.” The surprisingly intense level of soul-searching distinguishes it as a personal favorite on the tracklist. And it looks like Charli agrees. Today (October 10), she brings it to life with a Colin Solal Cardo-directed video. Shot on location in Kiev, the pristinely dressed diva takes a more conceptual approach to the lyrics by posing inside and later destroying a white Mercedes several times over. The end result is a cinematic and visually breathtaking work of art. Give the video a view below and let us know if you agree.
