Find Out What Your Favorite Music Video Love Interests Are Up To Now
Remember those teenage heartthrobs you looked forward to ogling over when a music video aired on MTV? You know, when MTV still showed music videos. Well, we're here to bring you down a musical memory lane.
Would you believe that some of Britney Spears' love interests became popular solely because they were in her music video? Not that we're too surprised, those music videos were the highlight of many '90s girls' teenage years. While some pursued careers in the entertainment industry, others went on to have fairly normal lives. Let's take a look at where some of our favorite guys and gals are now.
Chad Spears - "Baby One More Time"
So, we just learned that Britney Spears' love interest in her break out song "Baby One More Time" is actually her cousin in real life. Talk about a ruined childhood. At the time of the video, Chad Spears was working as an Abercrombie & Fitch model.
That song and clothing store definitely takes us back to the late '90s. When it was Britney vs. Christina and all you wanted in life was an overpriced t-shirt that reeked of teenage perfume. Regardless, it doesn't seem like Chad is up to much these days. He didn't even comment on the video's 10th anniversary.
Chad Cole - "Sometimes"
Here is just another Chad trying to make his way in the world, or at least making his way into a Britney Spears music video. Former Abercrombie & Fitch model, Chad Cole, co-starred in the music video "Sometimes." Looks like Britney had a type in the late '90s. He also appeared in ads for Sketchers, Buckle, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Even though Cole is still modeling for Wilhelmina Models NY, he went to school at San Diego State University and got his degree in criminal justice. He and his wife started a blog about celebrating the artistic human spirit.
Lucas Till - "You Belong With Me"
In the early 2000s, nothing said teenage heartthrob like blonde hair in a skater boy cut. Of course, Lucas Till's strong jawline and cute dimples didn't exactly hurt him in the looks department. Since holding up the "Tired of Drama" sign in Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" music video, Till has been making his mark in the entertainment industry.
You might recognize his face from Hannah Montana: The Movie, another teenage staple. But most recently, he landed the role of Alex Summers/Havok in the highly praised X-Men franchise. Seems as though Till has come a long way from rom-com music videos!
Tyler Hilton - "Teardrops on my Guitar"
You might remember Tyler Hilton as Taylor Swift's love interest, Drew, in the music video "Teardrops on my Guitar." You know, when T-Swift was still a country singer and hadn't yet sold out to the world of pop music. What you might not have known is that since that role Hilton has been making a name for himself in the world of music, as well as TV and film.
He had a reoccurring role on the immensely popular soap opera One Tree Hill (we still think Chris Keller was misunderstood), and people have compared his vocals and instrumentals to nonother than Elton John.
Adrian Grenier - "Crazy"
Okay, calling Adrian Grenier the love-interest in Britney Spears' "Crazy" video is a bit of a stretch but we're just going to go with it. After the hit single music video, Grenier was featured in a few low-key television shows and shorts. He got his big break playing Nate in The Devil Wears Prada opposite Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.
The movie paved his way to landing the role of a lifetime, Vincent Chase, on the critically acclaimed television show Entourage. The show ran from 2004-2011, winning multiple awards along the way, and even making a movie a few years after the final episode aired.
Bobby Roaché - "Irreplaceable"
Although he played Beyonce's lying and cheating boyfriend that she is in the process of kicking out of her house, we couldn't help but ogle over Bobby Roché. Everything you own is in the box to the left, Bobby.
After the "Irreplaceable" music video, Roché became a pretty successful model and actor. He has been featured in magazines such as GQ, Cosmopolitan, and Men's Health, as well as in ads for Lacoste, Levi's, Macy's, and Giorgio Armani. In 2014, he launched his own line of sunglasses named after himself, Bobby Roché. The line is just the right amount of pretentiousness.
Michael Ealy - "Halo"
Would you believe Michael Ealy once turned down a chance to work with Queen Bey? He rectified that a few years later, becoming the love interest in her music video for "Halo." Since the videos 2008 release date, Ealy has been busy acting in movies and TV series.
The natural blue-eyed actor has recently been in shows such as Being Mary Jane and Secrets and Lies. He's also lucky enough to have landed a role opposite Colbie Smulders in the TV drama Stumptown. We might all have to tune into that show to watch Mr. Ealy in action! He's come a long way since "Halo."
Alexander Rodriguez - "Hot N Cold"
This love-interest left us questioning Katy Perry's sanity in her "Hot N Cold" music video. Alexander Rodriguez runs away from Perry at the alter and her response is to chase him all over the city until he comes back and marries her. Stage-5 clinger alert.
Regardless, since the music video, Rodriguez has made quite a career for himself. He's been in multiple commercials for Colgate, Corona, Sears, and Sportcheck. He also appeared in an episode of CSI: Miami. Quite possibly the coolest thing he's done is become the face of Alex Fuentes on the cover of Simone Elkeles book series "Perfect Chemistry."
Kristen McDow - "One Time"
"One Time" was Justin Bieber's first music video. In case you forgot its premise, the Biebs was adopted by Usher, or something weird like that, and he was asked to "hold down the fort" while Usher was out. Justin is a teenager, of course, so he's going to throw a party. Weirdly, the sole purpose of the party was the get with a girl, Kristen McDow.
Fast forward to today, and McDow hasn't done anything in the realm of the entertainment industry. She is married and holds regular jobs in what we like to call "the real world." She also does some photography work on the side.
Krista Ayne - "Beautiful Soul"
If you were a 13-year-old when "Beautiful Soul" came out you knew more about love and relationships than your married parents of 30-years. Krista Ayne is Jesse McCartney's love interest in the music video, a girl that Jesse wants because of her soul and not just her pretty face. Yea, okay, we see now how cheesy that is, but it was beautiful in 2004!
After the music video, Ayne appeared in a few movies, hosted the TV series Pants Off Dance Off, and guest-hosted segments of The Howard Stern Show. She has since hung up her acting career in favor of becoming a health coach.
Faune Chambers - "Mad"
Faune Chambers was the spirit animal of every teenager who had "relationship drama." She was Neyo's girlfriend in his music video "Mad." The premise of which the couple deeply loved each other but were fighting and crying throughout the entire music video. Every teenager who didn't get a good morning hug from their significant other at school felt this on a personal level.
Since the video, you've probably recognized Faune from a few different movies, specifically White Chicks and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. She is also recognized for her dancing, having performed in two different Austin Powers films, as well as Save the Last Dance, and Bring It On Again.
Camilla Belle - "Lovebug"
The Jo-Bro's music video for their song "Lovebug" was set in the 1940s and was based around the love story of a young woman watching her man go off to war. Camilla Belle played the young woman and was actually dating Joe Jonas at the time, making for a more authentic love story.
Belle was in the acting game prior to the music video, and she has been featured in several films since then. Most recently, she starred as Isabel Wallace in the film The Mad Whale. An interesting story surrounding women in a mental asylum who stage a production of "Moby Dick."
Colt Prattes - "Try"
If you don't remember the fiercely choreographed interpretation of the Apache dance, then please go and watch P!nk's "Try" music video that features Broadway star Colt Prattes. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Prattes says he's been a dancer since high school, and that he originally started the craft to meet girls. He probably never thought he'd meet pop-sensation P!nk!
Since the music video, Prattes took a bit of a break from TV and film. He recently came back into the limelight to be featured in Dirty Dancing (2017) as well as A Snow White Christmas and and TV series This Close.
Brandon Routh - "What A Girl Wants"
Since his appearance in Christina Aguilera's music video for "What a Girl Wants," Brandon Routh has been a busy bee in the world of entertainment. He is no longer the starry-eyed pretty boy sitting on the bleachers watching Xtina and her backup dancers doing an odd dance montage, but rather a dreamy superhero.
Routh had been in multiple TV shows and movies up to this point, but now he is most known for his role as Ray Palmer/The Atom in the hit TV series Arrow. He's been lucky enough to revive the role in a few spin-off shows as well.
Stephen Colletti - "White Horse"
"Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams let it wash away my sanity," oh, that's the wrong song. We can't help it though, we know Stephen Colletti as the angelic boy from Laguna Beach. But this Southern California boy didn't want to stay known as the guy who was in the middle of the LC and Kristin tug-of-war.
Colleti landed the role of Swift's love interest in "White horse" a few years after the final episode of the hit reality series. Since the music video, he's been featured in a few TV shows. Most notably in his reoccurring role of Chase Adams on One Tree Hill.
Wilmer Valderrama - "Really Don't Care"
Of course, Wilmer Valderrama is best known for his character Fez on That '70s Show, but the last episode of the comedic series was years prior to Demi Lovato's music video for "Really Don't Care." So, what has the 39-year-old actor been doing since the videos air date?
Honestly, not too much. Aside from a few movie appearances, Valderrama's most noteworthy roles have been in the TV series Minority Report and From Druck Till Dawn: The Series. His next big role came in 2016 with the character of Nick Torres on the popular TV series, NCIS. Good for Wilmer Valderrama!
Dominic Sherwood - "Style"
Dominic Sherwood was the dream-worthy love interest in yet another Taylor Swift music video, "Style." Too bad he didn't have a speaking role, his British accent is enough to swoon over. Since his T-Swift days, Sherwood found his way to the TV network, Freeform.
Sherwood landed the lead role of Jace Herondale on the popular fantasy series Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments. Although the show has since been canceled, the last episode airing on May 2019, it lasted for three seasons due to the obsessed fan base. The show was based on Cassandra Clare's hit young adult book series "The Mortal Instruments."
Milo Ventimiglia - "Big Girls Don't Cry"
Since playing Fergie's love interest in the music video for "Big Girls Don't Cry," Milo Ventimiglia has made one of the biggest breaks. You might recognize him as the bad boy Rory falls for while dating Dean on Gilmore Girls, or maybe you know his face from Creed II. Nonetheless, Ventimiglia is now known for his role as Jack Pearson in the award-winning TV series This Is Us.
Ventimiglia stars on the show with some of the biggest talents in television, one being his on-screen wife, Mandy Moore. He has even been nominated for Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Jemima Kirke - "Dusk Till Dawn"
Jemima Kirke stars as Zayn's "Bonnie" in his music video for "Dusk Till Dawn." If you're not familiar with the video, it pretty much follows two lovers doing a Bonnie and Clyde type escapade, eventually running from the cops and driving off into the sunset. Typical misunderstood relationship and all that jazz.
Since the airing of the video, Kirke has been in a few different movies and shows. Her biggest role was prior to "Dusk Til Dawn," with her character Jessa on Girls. Not to say that she hasn't had any work, in 2018 she played Adelaide in the TV mini-series Maniac.
Eli Swanson - "Oops!...I Did It Again"
Who can forget the strange Mars landing that was Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did It Again" music video? Well, back in 2000, Eli Swanson had the pleasure of playing B-Spears' astronaut love interest. Around the same time, he was also modeling for Ralph Lauren, Adidas, and various other brands.
Unlike a majority of her other love interests, Swanson decided to leave the entertainment and modeling industry. In 2006, he graduated from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is currently a practicing physician in Arizona. Keep in mind, that if you ever need a physician, fly to Arizona and ask for the dreamy doctor.
