UPDATE: Grace VanderWaal dropped a video for “I Don’t Like You.” Check it out below.

Grace VanderWaal is growing up right in front of our eyes. And that fact is coming across on her musical releases. She launched a new era with “Stray” earlier this year. The song finds the talented teen (she’s only 15-years-old?!) contemplating the reality of growing up with a sense of wisdom and wistfulness beyond her years. Subsequent releases have only gotten more insightful. Take “Waste My Time” for example. On it, she is determined to enjoy even a fleeting moment in a relationship. However, her latest song (“I Don’t Like You”) uncovers what happens when things go sour.

Out today (October 18), it finds the “Ur So Beautiful” hitmaker detailing a relationship fraught with tension. “Here we go again in the same story. We fellow the routine until we say ‘I’m sorry,'” Grace sings with weary resignation. If you think that’s frank, then you’re in for a surprise when she hits the chorus. “I love you, but I don’t like you. The simple truth is I can’t do this, though I try to,” she laments. Although ending things would make sense, there’s one small problem. Neither seems capable of fully cutting the cord. Who hasn’t been there? Clever and very catchy, it’s yet another gem from the hitmaker this year.
