Skott Returns With 'Bloodhound'
The Swede returns with a bold, self-released bop called 'Bloodhound.'

Edit: The post has been updated with Skott’s seductive, one-take “Midas” video. Watch the clip below.

After dropping a bunch of perfect pop songs and a critically-adored EP called Stay Off My Mind, Skott decided it was time to shake things up. For starters, the Swede set up her own label and went indie in a bid for more creative freedom. It was risky, but the gamble is already paying dividends. “Bloodhound,” her first self-released single, ranks as one of 2019’s catchiest and she ups the ante even further on “Midas.” An otherworldly love song with shades of darkness, this ranks as one of her best singles to date.

“Midas, you’re used to hearing that you’re something above the ordinary,” Pauline Skött (her real name) muses in an early verse. “You wanna be the one and only, doesn’t it get lonely?” The “Mermaid” singer then professes undying love. “I wish there was a way that we could always, always live for always,” she coos. “Til we die together.” Skott explains the lyrics in a press release. “[It’s] a song about a mythical, undying love,” she states. “The struggle in daring to let your walls down, open up your heart and become mortal.” Listen below.
