Normani & Khalid's 'Love Lies' Video
Normani puts on a show in the video for 'Love Lies,' her sexy collaboration with Khalid.

Normani’s “Motivation” stands out as one of 2019’s freshest R&B/pop singles with its horn-heavy arrangement and quasi-throwback sound. It’s pretty much perfect as it is, but the temptation of dropping a remix was too great and an overhaul courtesy of 21 Savage arrived this morning (October 28). Unfortunately, it’s not very good. “Be my motivation, when I come home she gon’ cook,” the rapper spits on his verse. “Took her from my ex, they like ‘Savage you a crook.'” I’ll stick with the original.

Coming in the wake of two smash hit collaborations (“Love Lies” and “Dancing With A Stranger”), “Motivation” cemented Normani’s status as music’s new It Girl. Not only did she get the music right, but the visual also went viral. Directed by Dave Meyers and Daniel Russell, the clip pays homage to classic videos of the late 1990s and early 2000s including Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” and Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Real.” Listen to the new, but not improved version of “Motivation” featuring 21 Savage below.
