In the competitive world of pop music, artists are pitted against each other far too often. Petty feuds pop up on a regular basis. And while the drama makes for interesting headlines, it’s a breath of fresh air to see a relationship as pure as the one shared by Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. The longtime friends pretended to face off in the 2015 “Bad Blood” video. However, that’s far from a snapshot of reality. There’s been no back-stabbing over the years. Instead, the hitmakers constantly build each other up. If you need any evidence, you can check out Taylor’s recent interview with Zane Lowe.

In it, she had nothing but positive things to say about Selena’s stunning ballad “Lose You To Love Me.” “She’s been through so much. I’ve watched so much happen in her life and had a front row seat to so much, and I’m so proud of her,” the Lover siren gushed. “She is such a revelation because now she’s making her best stuff. I am 100% convinced this is the best thing she’s done so far.” Of course, Selena’s response was equally sweet. “I played her this song and I played it with her mom and dad, and I showed her the video. Her mom and Taylor started crying,” she said.

According to Selena, the tears were for a slightly unexpected reason. “It wasn’t because the song was emotional,” she explained. “It was just because the first thing they said to me was, ‘We’re so happy that you’re here. After seeing all of that, this is such a cool moment.'” And the duo has really been by each other’s side through thick and thin. Being two of the biggest stars on the planet, we’ve been able to watch their friendship play out in the public eye. They’ve shared the stage during massive concerts, walked red carpets together and had plenty of fun along the way.

In honor of all the latest development, I decided to compile a gallery of photos that document the evolution of their friendship. Take a trip down memory lane and watch them grow up together up top. Then for fun watch them play at being mortal enemies in the “Bad Blood” video below.
