Comeback Queen: La Roux Is Releasing A New Single This Week

La Roux’s self-titled debut LP remains one of the best dance-pop recordings of the 2010s. The Grammy-winning opus, which propelled the British duo to international fame, delivered razor-sharp bops like “Bulletproof” and the still-dizzying “In For The Kill.” Unfortunately, members Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid parted ways, and the band’s 2014 followup ended up being a comparatively underwhelming solo recording. The redheaded Brit has popped up here and there in subsequent years (including Tyler, the Creator’s Igor), but La Roux has laid dormant until this week.

Elly fired up the band’s social media accounts on Monday to let fans know that La Roux is making a comeback. She posted a new picture, which appears to be a single or album cover, and shared a snippet of a song along with the message: “Here’s a little something to tide you over til’ tomorrow.” It’s always hard to make much of an assessment from a brief preview, but this sounds very much like a throwback to La Roux’s late ’00s best. Check out Elly’s exciting updates and come back to hear her first, new song in five years tomorrow.
