No tricks here! Ava Max is celebrating Halloween with a fantastic treat. Today (October 31) the 25-year-old came through with a video in support of “Freaking Me Out.” Released alongside “Blood, Sweat & Tears” earlier this summer, the song is a perfect fit for Spooky SZN with its liberal use of traditional horror tropes to describe the heady feeling of falling in love. “Now I hear sounds in the hallway. Rocking chairs are moving on their own. I’m falling for you, so much so that it’s freaking me out,” the siren coos. Of course, she brings those lyrics to life in the Edgar Daniel-directed visual.

In it, the pop princess focuses on creating a mood instead of delivering a fully fledged plot. Opening at the beach, the “Torn” hitmaker proceeds to explore a cavernous (and spooky) manor. Meanwhile a second version of herself is dressed all in black and chained in the basement. There’s a bit of choreography. But it’s more about the tension of waiting to see if the two will eventually meet. The end result manages to be both glamorous and eerie, making it the perfect foil for the track. Give it a view below and let us know what you think about Ava’s latest release.
