Charlie Puth's 'I Warned Myself'
Charlie reinvents himself (again) with the minimal R&B of 'I Warned Myself.'

Charlie Puth has been steadily teasing his third LP with a stream of eclectic singles. “I Warned Myself” found the hitmaker embracing minimal R&B, while “Cheating On You” finds him in full ballad mode. The 27-year-old’s most instant pop moment, however, is “Mother.” Co-penned with Ryan Tedder (among other songwriting heavy-hitters), the cheeky anthem offers a fresh twist on the good-boy-gone-bad genre. “He’s such a nice boy, so well-mannered,” Charlie parrots. “He’s so much better than the last one you brought around.”

As it turns out, mom is in for a bit of shock. “If your mother knew all the things we do,” the “Attention” star sings on the chorus. “If your mother knew, she’d keep me so far from you.” The track has now been given a club overhaul by Fedde Le Grand. The Dutch club veteran knows have to ramp up the BPMs without losing the essence of a track, and he works his usual magic on “Mother.” Of all the songs released from CP3 thus far, this feels like the one that could suddenly pop.
