Kane Brown fired up his Instagram on October 30 to let fans know that he had become a dad. A day later, the crossover country star dedicated a ballad called “For My Daughter” to the newly-arrived Kingsley Rose Brown. “I wrote this song when I found out we were officially going to become parents,” the “Heaven” hitmaker shared. “I meant every word, and cannot wait to watch her grow up.” The track itself is simple and heartfelt. “Someone to play catch with out back in the yard, to pick up the pieces of your first broken heart,” he croons on the opening verse.

“Someone to say slow down when you turn sixteen, I grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can be.” Making sure that history does not repeat is a central theme of the song, which immediately reached number one on iTunes. “I can’t change the past but the past has sure changed me,” Kane sings. “I grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can be.” It looks like “For My Daughter” (below) could be the 26-year-old’s second big hit in a row. He’s currently top 40 with Marshmello collaboration, “One Thing Right.”
