Jagwar Twin is generating serious hype with “Loser.” And for good reason. Roy English (the mastermind behind JT) has crafted a jangly, lo-fi anthem with an irresistible chorus. “Jericho fell like a wave, maybe I’m bad in my brain,” he sings over Linus and S1’s layered production. “I’m a loser, baby, just like you.” The newcomer then drives the point home over the course of the song. “Television on your frame, everybody’s all the same,” Jagwar Twin asserts. “I’m a loser, baby, just like you.” There’s even a (slightly off-key) children’s choir.

What’s it all about? “We all walk around with masks on, disguised as what we think the world wants to see,” Roy explains. “But if everyone was to remove their masks they would come to find that we are all just human underneath; that we are all losers.” The video for “Loser” arrived this week and it’s a psychedelic affair that was directed by acclaimed visual artist Fabien Montique. (His previous credits include Kanye West and Virgil Abloh). Watch the video below and check out Jagwar Twin’s impressive debut LP, Subject To Flooding, here.
