Nashville-based pop/R&B singer Conor Matthews is having a breakout year. Since signing to Warner Music (via the late Busbee’s Altadena), the newcomer has released a series of viral hits and a Christmas single. Of the bunch, “Midnight Flight” stands out as the song that could take the 24-year-old to the next level. “I know it’s getting late outside,” Conor croons on the instantly hummable chorus. “Baby there’s still time if you leave right now, I can get you on a midnight flight.”

It turns out, the song is based on personal experience. “I wrote ‘Midnight Flight’ to a girl I had a crazy thing for when she was in the middle of an unhealthy relationship with someone else,” he reveals. “I love grand gestures, and I’ve always kind of been a hopeless romantic. I was in Chicago at the time, and this song was really just an invitation to join me. She still doesn’t know it’s about her though!” I guess the cat’s out of the bag now. While the song is very much adult in nature, the video offers a nostalgic look at young love.

The clip, which we are excited to premiere below, bounces between an adult Conor exchanging longing glances with his lady friend and flashbacks to a childhood crush. It’s extremely cute and certain to tug at your heartstrings. Get acquainted with the singer/songwriter below. He’s certainly One To Watch in 2020.
