Unstoppable! Iggy Azalea Introduces New EP ‘Wicked Lips’ With “LOLA”

Iggy Azalea does not get enough credit. She’s been churning out bone-rattling bangers and aesthetically stunning visuals without breaking a sweat since going independent last year. Impressively, the “Started” rapper is not done with us yet. Less than six months after dropping her long-awaited sophomore album In My Defense, she launches a new era with “LOLA.” Out today (November 8), the track features rising pop princess Alice Chater and serves as the lead single to her upcoming EP Wicked Lips (arriving next week). And it’s another win for the reliable hitmaker.

Built into a sample of Rosemary Clooney’s “Mambo Italiano,” it is Iggy’s most pop-leaning single in recent memory. And it goes very, very hard. “Loaded gun, that’s how she feels. Hard as stone, she aims to kill,” Alice sings on the opening lines. Things only get more aggressive as the “Sally Walker” diva comes in. “You love how I hold grudges. Might throw some punches, but you’re not judging. I’m your psycho,” she declares. There’s no denying that the stars are coming for blood. Even better is the accompanying video, which finds them playing patients at Celestial Heights Insane Asylum.

Now it’s clear what she meant when she said the visual would be “fashion focused.” She and Alice serve countless looks and multiple colored wigs while putting on one hell of a show. My favorites are the stappy emerald dresses they wear while dancing around a padded room. That being said, it’s definitely a tough choice. If life is fair, this will net Iggy another “Fancy”-sized smash. If nothing else, it has me certain Wicked Lips is about to be one of 2019’s best EPs.
