Alessia's 'Growing Pains'
Alessia Cara returns with 'Growing Pains,' the first taste of her sophomore LP.

Alessia Cara has been unusually prolific in 2019, dropping an EP, multiple collaborations and now a festive single. It turns out, the Canadian pop star has left the best for last. “Make It To Christmas” is a worthy addition to any seasonal playlist. It’s upbeat and bouncy with the usual trappings of Christmas. However, like all good holiday anthems, there’s a degree of dread and impending misery just below the surface. “Darling, I know that our love is going cold,” she admits on the pre-chorus. “It’s just something about the snow this time of year that makes us lose our way.”

But, if the 23-year-old is going to be dumped, she would prefer if it’s after the holiday. “Just say we’ll make up and hold on a little longer, don’t have me spending it alone,” she pleads. “This time of year is precious, please can we make it to Christmas?” I don’t like her chances, but good luck! In other Alessia news, the “Stay” hitmaker will perform “Querer Mejor” with Juanes at the Latin Grammys on November 14. She will also belt out “Rooting For You” at the E! People’s Choice Awards. Listen to her bittersweet festive bop below.
