EDIT: The post has been updated with Anna’s quirky “No Fun” video. Watch it below.

16-year-old Anna Sofia strikes a chord with homebodies the world over with “No Fun.” Produced by Jeff Hazin, the Canadian newcomer’s official debut single for Electric Feel Records/Republic Records is a DIY-sounding pop song about the joy of doing nothing. “I don’t wanna have a good time, take me home so I can sit around,” she sings sullenly. “Don’t need another long night.” The teenager lays out her manifesto on the chorus. “I know I can’t be the only one in love with doin’ nothing all night long,” Anna declares. “No fun that’s the only fun I know.”

What inspired the wonderfully glum anthem? “[It] was written after a birthday my friends threw for me,” the “Meaner Girl” singer reveals. “During the party one of my friends accidentally smashed a window and no one would own up to who did it,” she continues. “The next day however, my friend’s house was a literal disaster and I had to clean the whole house and had a terrible day aka ‘No Fun.’ The lyric in the song ‘broke a window and a heart or two,’ makes me laugh every time I think back to that night when someone ran up to me and told me about what happened!”

“No Fun” is taken from Anna’s upcoming debut EP, Self Aware Bitch. Listen to the deeply relatable bop below.
