Maggie Rogers rolls out the video for 'Fallingwater' and it's a visual feast.

Chances are, Maggie Rogers had a better 2019 than you. The rising star’s long-awaited debut LP, Heard It In A Past Life, was met with universal adoration and climbed all the way to number two on the Billboard 200. For those achievements (and the quality of her stunning 2017 EP), the 25-year-old has earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Maggie now celebrates her breakout year by serenading diehard fans with a new, stand-alone single called “Love You For A Long Time.”

“Came in like a vision from the old west wind, like a bright new dream that I was stepping in,” she begins the song over Ricky Reed and Nate Mercereau’s breezy, Cali-pop production. “I saw your face and I know it was a sign, and I still think about that moment all of the time.” That sheer sense of joy also comes through on the chorus. “And in the morning when I’m waking up, I swear you’re the first thing that I’m thinking of,” Maggie sings. “I feel it in my body, know it in my mind… I’m gonna love you for a long time.”

What inspired the song? “I actually wrote most of ‘Love You For A Long Time’ the day before I wrote ‘Light On,’” the newcomer remembers. “It’s a song about love in all its forms — romantic love, the love I feel for my friends, the love I feel for my band, and the love I’ve shared with all of [my fans]. I wanted it to sound like the last days of summer. I wanted it to sound as wild and alive as new love feels.” I can safely say that she achieved that goal.
