We speak to the teenager about his debut album, visual direction & collabs.

EDIT: The post has been updated with AJ’s stylish “Unstoppable” video. Watch it below.

AJ Mitchell can do it all. Over the course of 2019, the 18-year-old has proved equally adept at dance-pop (“Say It Again” and “Slow Dance”), club bangers (“After Hours”) and stripped-back fare (“Like Strangers Do”). He now dabbles in R&B on “Unstoppable.” Produced by RØMANS, AJ’s latest single finds him falling hard for the wrong kind of girl. “Play with fire, never learn,” the breakout star sings. “Take a bite, let it burn.” Instead of steering clear, he’s desperate for more.

“Momma always say don’t fall in love with girls like you,” AJ sings over driving beats on the chorus. “But you hit me like a freight train got me breaking all the rules.” It’s not going to end well, but our hero really doesn’t care. “Girl you knocked me down like a domino, girl you so unstoppable.” At this rate, the teenager’s debut LP, Skyview, is shaping up to be an eclectic affair that has a little something for everyone. Which makes perfect sense in the playlist-dominated music world. Listen to “Unstoppable” below.
