Oh Wonder Returns With 'Hallelujah'
London-based alt-pop duo Oh Wonder is back with 'Hallelijah.'

Oh Wonder has brightened up 2019 with a string of very good singles from their upcoming No One Else Can Wear Your Crown LP (due February 7). But the alt-pop duo has one more trick up their collective sleeve. Namely, a moody seasonal track called “This Christmas.” Another addition to the canon of miserable Christmas songs, Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West tackle themes of loneliness and loss on their latest. “Seems funny how the season brings a tear,” they begin the song over sleigh bells and strings. “And I’m longing for the snow to disappear.”

The reason for their Grinch-like approach becomes apparent on the chorus. “I’d give all the love this time of year and all that festive cheer,” Oh Wonder harmonizes. “I’d give anything this Christmas to have you here.” 2019 has been an unusually good year for Christmas originals and this is one of the best. What inspired it? “We understand that the holidays can be a tough time for some people because they don’t necessarily have the ones they love around them,” the duo explains.

“We wrote ‘This Christmas’ to acknowledge that it can be difficult and lonely, and hope it provides some comfort to anyone who is missing someone.” Listen to the song below and be sure to give yourself an early Christmas present by getting your hands on tickets to Oh Wonder’s 2020 tour here.
