Well, here’s some good news! Niall Horan is releasing a new single on Friday (December 6) called “Put A Little Love On Me.” The Irishman shared a snippet of the song on social media this morning. It’s hard to tell from the brief preview, but it sounds like he’s going with a ballad. In fact, with its gentle piano melody, “Put A Little Love On Me” evokes the stripped-back, folk approach of “This Town.” It will be fascinating to hear the track in its entirety, but this already sounds like a wintery gem.

Thus far, Niall’s sophomore campaign has been full of surprises. He kicked things off with “Nice To Meet Ya” — a rock track that channeled early ’00s indie acts like Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian. The song didn’t chart as highly as he would have perhaps liked (it has peaked at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 thus far), but that’s still impressive for an alt-leaning song without any real promotion. More importantly, it has legs. Which means that people who actually hear it, like it. Get a small taste of Niall’s next single below.
