Double Release: Halsey Drops “Finally // beautiful stranger” & “SUGA’s Interlude”

Halsey’s Manic is shaping up to be one of the strongest albums arriving in 2020. Seriously. “Graveyard” remains one of my favorite singles of the year, and then there’s the rest of the tracklist to consider. Announced earlier this week, it features an impressive lineup of collaborators (including Alanis Morissette) and some very revealing song titles. Based on what we’ve seen thus far, I’d say high expectations are justified. And today (December 6) the 25-year-old continues building out the project with the arrival of “Finally // beautiful stranger” and “SUGA’s Interlude.”

“Two very different songs. Two very dreamy stories,” the “Without Me” chart-topper said of the dual tracks earlier this week. That proves to be true. The former (which arrived alongside a Patrick Tracy-directed video) lays Halsey’s voice over bare strings as she lets her guard down with a partner. “I said beautiful stranger, here you are in my arms. And I know that beautiful strangers only come along to do me wrong,” she sings. “But I think it’s finally, finally, finally, finally, finally safe for me to fall.” The end result is another vulnerable gem that could easily dominate the charts in the coming weeks.

As the title suggests, “SUGA’s Interlude” finds Halsey reuniting with BTS rapper SUGA. After joining forces on the supersized “Boy With Luv” earlier this year, their latest is a more restrained moment. However, the duo finds a nice chemistry on the ethereal production. Give both songs a listen below.
