Tate McRae Drops (Not At All) “Stupid” Single, Announces Debut EP

Tate McRae ranks as one of 2019’s breakout pop acts thanks to viral hits “tear myself apart” and “all my friends are fake.” Between them, those songs racked up more than 10 million streams. The 16-year-old should find similar success with “stupid.” Produced by Russell Chell, the relatable anthem documents a serious case of lovesickness. “Only think about him on the weekdays and weekends, only in the mornings and evenings,” the Canadian newcomer begins the song. “Only when I wake up and sleep in.”

If nothing else, she’s completely self-aware as to the extent of her obsession. “Oh my God, I’m a fool,” Tate sings on the chorus. “Keep on coming back to you, I’m so stupid for ya.” The talented teen elaborates on the song in the press release. [“It’s] pretty much about that person that drives you crazy, but can never get out of your head,” she reveals. “It’s the person that is everything you shouldn’t want, but you do.” In addition to dropping “stupid” (below), Tate also announced that her debut EP, all the things i’ve never said, drops on January 24, 2020.
