Coldplay Debut “Oceans” For BBC Radio 1: Watch

After debuting a couple Ghost Stories tracks during their concert at SXSW, Coldplay have unveiled another album cut in a live setting, today (April 23) performing “Oceans” for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

While the restrained, generally hushed tone of the band’s new material has invited comparisons to their debut album, “Oceans” is the first track that truly feels like it could’ve come from a Parachutes session. There’s hardly a hook to be found, but it’s a lovely, slightly forlorn sway of a song, with an acoustic guitar anchoring Chris Martin‘s meandering falsetto amidst some swirling atmospherics. Perhaps the studio version has a heftier arrangement, but for now, it sounds like the unassuming, pre-“Clocks” iteration of the band.

Update: Now with video! Watch them perform “Oceans” and “Magic” below.

Ghost Stories is out May 19.
