Rihanna has offered a taste of what her new album will sound like — “FourFiveSeconds,” featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

Coming from the Unapologetic diva who churns out urban dance-pop hits like clockwork, and the rapper who matched his impassioned raps with ’90s industrial rock tendencies on Yeezus, an acoustic guitar duet about workingman’s blues was the last thing that we expected. Yet here it is, with Rihanna’s voice sounding as resilient and West’s as tender as can be.

Based on how it sounds, “FourFiveSeconds” sounds like (but apparently isn’t) the song that West previewed January 23, when he crashed iHeartMedia’s Music Summit. (Based on initial reports, there’s a good chance it also features Ty Dolla Sign). While speaking to radio programmers, he backpedaled on what he said at Governor’s Ball 2013 (“Honestly at this point when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I want to be no more”), by saying, “Of course I want to be on radio!” Perhaps with Rihanna’s new song, West stands a chance.
