Rae Sremmurd Plan To Unlock More Swag With New Album In December

Rae Sremmurd are going for the rare DMX double play — releasing a debut album and a follow-up in the same calendar year. The hip-hop duo released first album SremmLife in January, and in a recent interview, Swae Lee and Slim Jimmy said they’re planning to drop their sophomore full-length at the end of this year.

Speaking to 106KMEL backstage at the BET Awards over the weekend, Swae Lee proclaimed, “New album coming in, like, December.” Watch it below (they also discuss Slim Jimmy’s gruesome Gov Ball injury).

Of course, when an artist makes an off-the-cuff, unofficial announcement about an album’s release date, it’s usually bunk. Whether it’s Lana speaking to fans after a show or Kanye telling a radio station when to expect another project, musicians love to promise their fans new material. Without an official announcement from the label, though, it’s usually wishful thinking. But it’s still fun to play along! And if anyone can unlock enough swag to drop two albums in one year, it’s Rae Sremmurd.
