Justin Bieber Performs “What Do You Mean?” On ‘Fallon,’ Explains His MTV VMAs Breakdown
Justin Bieber is currently on the road to a grand comeback, and what better way to try to win back the hearts of American than with a late night appearance? The 21-year-old stopped by Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday (September 2) to perform his new single – “What Do You Mean?”
The singer delivered the track — which is currently No. 1 on iTunes in 89 countries — with ease, as he danced and smiled his way through the performance while rocking a camoflague jacket and ripped jeans.
Along with the performance, Justin sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss his forthcoming album (he confirms it’s out on November 13) and the reason behind that now-infamous breakdown after his 2015 MTV VMAs performance and had a drum off rematch with The Roots‘ Questlove (who first beat him back in 2010).
The singer stated this about his crying at the awards show:
“It was so overwhelming. I missed some cues so I was a bit disappointed about that. But just the support… I didn’t expect them to support me in the way they did. Last time I was at an awards show, I was booed. I worked so hard at this album… at becoming the man I want to become and stepping into that situation, you just can’t help but feel judged. I wanted to win so badly, I just put everything on the line. It was authentic and real… I was just wanting it so bad.”
