NVDES, a collective curated and produced by Josh Ocean, is generating serious blog heat with dual singles “The Other Side” and “Don’t Fvck Your Neighbor” (they comprise both sides of his debut 7″ vinyl). Their sunny vibes and demented mix of genres — trophouse, folk and surf-rock, for starters — make them the perfect soundtrack for summer parties. Particularly now that the latter has been retooled for the dancefloor by rising DJ Slaptop.

“Slaptop and I first connected just as I was starting NVDES,” Josh says. “We kept in touch and passed some ideas back and forth. I always liked the sound of his mixes and knew he was a fan of ‘Don’t Fvck Your Neighbor,’ so naturally he was the first person I sent it to for a remix.” The “Sunrise” producer was excited to put his spin on it. “I’ve been a nvdes fan since day one and this is my favorite track of his to date,” he says.

“I was honored when he asked if I would do the remix. My approach was to maintain the range and lightheartedness of the original while outfitting it for the dancefloor.” We’re excited to premiere Slaptop’s handiwork below.
