China Bans Lady Gaga & Throws “I Don’t Know Her” Shade After Dalai Lama Summit
China has reportedly implemented a Lady Gaga ban following the star’s meeting with the Dalai Lama. According to The Guardian, citing Hong Kong’s Apple Daily, the ruling Communist party’s propaganda department issued “an important instruction” banning Gaga’s work in the country.
The decision even led to the ultimate form of diva shade from China’s foreign ministry:
Me: will @ladygaga meeting with @DalaiLama lead to a bad romance with China?
China Foreign Ministry spokesman: who?

Gaga isn’t the first pop star to get the China ban (and, in fact, it’s not even her first ban). The Guardian also points out that the honor has been bestowed upon Maroon 5, Bjork and Oasis also due to meeting with or supporting the Dalai Lama, who is seen as a separatist enemy by the Chinese Communist regime.
