Annabel Jones’ “Happy” Gets A Down-Tempo Trap Remix

Annabel Jones dropped one of the year’s best EPs in May with Libelle. The five-song set is home to buzz track “Magnetic” and major label debut single “IOU” (the one with the crazy cat lady video) as well as the deliciously melancholy “Happy.” The latter now gets a drowsy trap overhaul from Tim Gunter and he approaches the track with respect, dropping the tempo and bringing in a little piano without losing the essence of the original.

“I felt excited the first time I heard Tim’s chilled take on ‘Happy’,” Annabel wrote on Instagram. “The song is about the bittersweetness of long distance love and Tim has captured that sense of longing perfectly. I love the sonic choices he’s made and that the message is intact.” The Texan DJ is just as effusive with praise. “I was super excited to remix this track because Annabel has incredible voice,” he told Run The Trap. “I wanted to give this song a different feeling, something you could ride around with your windows down to.” Take a listen below.
