Neil Amin-Smith Quits Clean Bandit: Read His & The Band’s Statements

Over the past two-and-a-half years they’ve topped the British chart, toured the world and won a Grammy for their global smash “Rather Be,” but Clean Bandit are now saying goodbye to member Neil Amin-Smith (pictured above, far right), who has decided to call it quits from the UK pop-dance act.

“I have decided to leave clean bandit,” Amin-Smith wrote in a note posted on Twitter today. “it was a decision that took me a very long time reach but it is the right one.”

Separately, remaining Clean Bandit members Jack Patterson, Luke Patterson and Grace Chatto noted on Facebook, “It is with great sadness that we must announce that our performances of Tears over the Summer were Neil’s last shows with Clean Bandit. He told us recently that he has decided to leave. We have had a wonderful ride together and we are extremely excited to see what he does next.”

Clean Bandit rose to worldwide fame with the release of their single “Rather Be,” which features vocals by Jess Glynne and landed at #1 and #10 on the UK and US charts, respectively. The band subsequently served up hit after hit throughout Europe, including “Real Love,” “Stronger” and, most recently, “Tears.” The quartet won a Best Dance Recording Grammy in 2015 for “Rather Be.”

The band’s new single “Rockabye” is slated for release this Friday (October 21), the same day they’re scheduled to perform in Manchester, England. Clean Bandit are also on the roster for Miami’s Cultivate Festival, on November 12, and have further shows in New York and Los Angeles lined up for later next month.
