The Weeknd Is This Week’s Album Chart ‘Starboy’, Has Third-Biggest Debut Of 2016

The Weeknd lives up to his third album’s title this week, as Starboy debuts atop the Billboard 200 with 348,000 equivalent album units earned. Overall the LP sold 209,000 copies. It’s the Grammy-winning Canadian crooner’s second consecutive chart-topping album, follow last year’s Beauty Behind The Madness.

Given those figures, Starboy now has the distinction of having the third largest debut for an album in 2016, behind only Drake‘s Views (1.04 million units) and Beyonce‘s Lemonade (653,000).

The real question: Can we just get “Starboy” (the single, that is) to #1 on the Hot 100 already? So far it’s peaked at #2, having been blocked from the top of the singles chart by The Chainsmokers“Closer” for a stretch and, more recently, Rae Sremmurd‘s “Black Beatles.”

Surely we can squeeze a good song in there one last time this year?
