Jacob Sartorius Announces Debut EP
Jacob Sartorius will perform songs from his debut EP on an 18-date world tour.

Jacob Sartorius is getting the hang of this pop star thing. The 14-year-old social media sensation got off to a dubious start (debut single “Sweatshirt” was critically panned and racked up a whopping 1.6 million dislikes on YouTube), but his songs have been getting better. “Hit Or Miss” would have been bearable without the awful rap, while “All My Friends” is perfectly enjoyable tween-pop. He steps it up a notch on “By Your Side,” which is easily his most credible track despite being a little late to Justin Bieber’s tropical-pop party.

It looks like the teen is trying to emulate Justin in more ways than one. His “By Your Side” video evokes the superstar’s Believe era with its corny (but cute) man-boy fashion and awkward love interest. Jacob is currently promoting his debut EP, The Last Text, with a world tour. Despite being independently-released, the 8-song set peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200. How long before a major label comes sniffing (if they haven’t already), particularly now that the music is getting better? Watch him in action up top.
