It Looks Like Lorde’s New Single Is Called “Green Light”
EDIT: Updated with a second video teaser.
It looks Lorde’s new single is called “Green Light.” The title was revealed by Record Of The Day editor Lee Thompson on Twitter. The NZ pop star’s label hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. Of course, the 20-year-old announced her return in typically mysterious style via a TV commercial on New Zealand network TVNZ1 last night (February 26). Ella sits in the back of a vehicle, chewing food and drinking out of a soda cup, with jangling guitars playing in the background.
Two dates flash across the screen at the end. March 2 for New York City, and March 3 for New Zealand. It looks a lot like a universal release date given the time differences between the two countries. Lorde’s 2013 debut LP, Pure Heroine, spawned two top 10 singles — “Royals” and “Team” — and sold 1.5 million copies in the US. The album also nabbed the Kiwi newcomer two Grammys (Best Pop Solo Performance and Song Of The Year), both for “Royals.” She has been fairly quiet since then with only Hunger Games anthem, “Yellow Flicker Beat,” and a Disclosure collaboration to keep fans occupied.
