Another Smash: K-Pop Gods BTS Tease New Single “IDOL”
Update: It looks like Nicki Minaj features on “IDOL.” Shazam accidentally let the cat out of the bag. See proof below.
There’s no stopping BTS! The history-making K-Pop heroes are releasing a new album called Love Yourself: Answer on Friday (August 24) and they kindly gave us a preview of the lead single earlier today. The seven-member group introduces “IDOL” in a spectacular teaser video that finds them wearing hanbok, a traditional Korean garment, in a golden structure. The boys all get a moment to shine, while a snippet of the lush, atmospheric song plays. They sign off with “ursoo,” which kicks off the celebration between BTS and their fans ahead of the album’s release.
Given the stunning success of recent singles, expectations are high for “IDOL.” In fact, it seems like the boy band makes another piece of history with each release. “DNA,” the lead single from EP Love Yourself: Her, became their (then) highest-charting song in 2017 when it peaked at number 67 — only to be eclipsed by “Fake Love,” which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
