Fans of M.I.A.
will have to wait a little bit longer for the release of her much-anticipated fourth album Matangi
, which was supposed to drop in December
but now has an April 15 release date. The “Bad Girls”
songstress attributes the push-back to her label, which apparently wasn’t exactly satisfied with the finished product — even calling it “too positive” for her typical bad girl persona.
“I thought I’d finished it,” she told Goldcoast.com of the new record. “I finished it and then I handed the record in, like a couple of months ago. They’re like ‘You need to like darken it up a bit’. I don’t know what it is but as soon as I work that out.’” Despite flipping the bird on live TV during last year’s Super Bowl half-time performance, it seems becoming a mom may have softened her up a bit. See what else her label had to say below. More »
A few months after announcing LMFAO
‘s indefinite hiatus
, group member SkyBlu
(real name Skyler Austen Gordy
) has released his first solo track, titled “Pop Bottles.” The electro-pop dance song is not a far departure from LMFAO — in fact, it’s really not a departure at all, as the lyrical content is all about drinking and hitting the club (or “making it rain,” to be exact). The song also features up-and-coming singer Mark Rosas
, a recent addition to Sky’s new collective of artists and producers at Big Bad University.
“Basically I grew up people always telling me what I can and can’t do,” Sky recently told MTV about his ventures. “And I always kind of classified myself as a dreamer… I created a university for dreamers. We have a lot of musical artists in there and DJs and everybody in there is about to release a big song. I kind of want to show the world what’s up with Sky.” Well, now we know. Listen to his new track and hit the jump for some of the lyrics. More »
Poor One Direction
fans must be seething at the mouth by now. The boys just released two more teasers for their upcoming “Kiss You”
video, both of which feature more of their swoon-worthy smiles and seemingly goofy personas. The official video drops tomorrow (January 7), and at this point, we’re well aware of why they themselves referred to the vid as being “pure stupidity.”
It really is randomness at its finest.
In one of the teasers, we get more behind-the-scenes bad-boy stuff, while the second video is devoted purely to the guys in their adorable ski gear. Harry also grinds on Zayn while on the back of a motorcycle. And if that isn’t sexy, we don’t know what is. Watch the first teaser up top and the second after the jump. More »
Despite the controversy surrounding his alleged affinity
for smoking weed, Justin Bieber
is keeping the focus on his upcoming acoustic album. He’s now revealed the names of two previously unreleased bonus tracks for Believe Acoustic
(out January 29) by tweeting
the caption “Focused” along with the album cover (see above), which called out the two new songs.
When the “Beauty And The Beat” singer originally released the album’s track list, it included just eight titles, one of which was unnamed. But he soon added two more, claiming “8 wasn’t enough” and that he “had to write some more new ones.” The eighth track remains a mystery, but we’re still holding out hope for that rumored collab with Ed Sheeran. For now, find out the titles of the two new songs after the jump. More »
switches it up with his catchy new song “Hey Porsche,” which deviates a lot from his past records, and surprisingly features more singing than rapping. While the longtime MC takes a chance with this seemingly far venture out into the pop genre, there’s no denying it follows a similar formula to his 2010 hit “Just A Dream,”
which makes it all the more ready to be a radio-bred smash.
Granted, Nelly does rap a bit on on the track, but sings the chorus and mixes his rhymes with a memorable melody and straight-up pop hook. In fact, it’s very reminiscent of Flo Rida‘s “Whistle,” and is just as shamelessly addictive. If you’re a Nelly fan, this should tide you over until the release of his upcoming album M.O. sometime this year. Listen to Nelly’s new track after the jump. More »
isn’t going to let anything ruin her new year, even if that means she has to take a break from Twitter for a while. The X Factor
judge tweeted a mini-rant about friends, trust, and communication on January 3 before deciding to take a “breather” from the social network completely the next day. She blamed gossip sites for causing drama and making up stories, but it’s unclear which particular headline perturbed her the most.
While her Lovatics must be bummed, we can’t say we blame her. She’s been in a good place recently and usually uses Twitter to share her positivity and optimism with fans. “She tweets this stuff pretty often, sounds like sound life advice,” her rep said. See Demi’s tweets leading up to her decision after the jump. More »
Just in case you were missing some Jennifer Lopez
in your life since she left American Idol
, she confirmed via Twitter
that she is in fact working on a new album to be released this year. While details are limited, we do know J.Lo will be teaming up with music producer RedOne
again, with whom she previously had success with her hit “On the Floor
RedOne recently told MTV that the “amazing” new record will combine a mix of genres she’s covered in the past, including dance, Latin, and hip-hop. “It’s a very special album,” he said. “It feels like this album, to us, has to have everything about her, not just one thing.” The best part? It will be very reminiscent of what she did with Ja Rule back in 2001. More »
