Azealia Banks Blocked From Releasing New Music Until March 2016
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Azealia Banks. Her joint-tour with K. Michelle was cancelled two weeks after it was announced and now she’s been blocked from releasing new music until next year. “So prospect park has me for management and Label (stupid azealia, right) now Jeff Kwatinetz no longer wants to manage me BUT… is holding me in my album contract until february 2016,” the 24-year-old tweeted. “There won’t be any new music until March 2016.”
Given the four-year wait for debut LP Broke With Expensive Taste, a (comparatively) minor delay in releasing the follow-up Business & Pleasure isn’t a tragedy. It will be interesting, however, to see if the rapper is still allowed to release mixtapes. Azealia was planning to release a collection of Jay Z remixes and covers called Slay-Z as well as the sequel to Fantasea, which features that Dr. Luke collaboration. See her tweets below.
