Why, Katy, What Flawless Skin You Have!

Do you admire Justin Bieber and Katy Perry‘s pop star-perfect alabaster skin? Want to know how you, too, can achieve such flawlessness? Well, if you live in the UK, that might be a problem. The Proactiv ads featuring these superstars have been banned for being misleading, says The Guardian. Apparently the product used in the US is different from that in the UK, which raised questions about whether or not this was false advertising. More »

Following last fall’s inaugural iHeartRadio Music Festival — or, the “biggest live music event in radio history” — Ryan Seacrest announced the lineup for this year’s event. Pop divas like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Pink and Shakira will co-mingle with rappers Lil Wayne and Pitbull, bands like Green Day, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park and No Doubt and dance masters Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22. In other words, it’s basically the pop Lollapalooza. Or Woodstock. Popapawoodstock?

So which Hollywood maestro did they tap to score the new Selena Gomez movie — John Williams? Hans Zimmer? Trent Reznor, maybe? Nope! The honor will go to Grammy darling Skrillex, following the trend of major recording artists composing film scores. Now, if you assume that Spring Breakers is a tween-geared flick like Gomez’s Monte Carlo (since it does kind of sound like one), Skrillex may seem a curious choice. But when you realize Spring Breakers is brought to you by the writer of Kids, it all clicks into place. More »

The 2012 Teen Choice Awards are just around the corner (they air Sunday, July 22), and word on the street is that Demi Lovato is Fox’s choice to host the star-studded event. The 19-year-old “Give Your Heart A Break” hit-maker is already underway with a high-profile gig for the network, given that she joined Britney Spears as a judge on the upcoming second season of The X Factor. The site Hollyscoop (by way of ONTD) notes that Fox may view a hosting gig by Demi as a way for the teen to up her visibility and step out from Britney’s shadow ahead of the season premiere of Simon Cowell‘s singing talent competition in September.

Who knows — if this unconfirmed jibber jabber turns out to be true, and Lovato keeps it up, the increasingly ever-present songstress may just be on her way to becoming the next Ryan Seacrest.

He Did, He Did Rock Them

No, that’s not a Freddie Mercury hologram performing with Queen — it’s Adam Lambert! The superstar trespassed all the way to Kiev, Ukraine last night to be Queen for a day, serving as frontman for the legendary “Bohemian Rhapsody” band. Not only was it an epic meeting of like-minded talents in its own right, but it also benefits a good cause — the Elton John AIDS foundation. (Sir “Crocodile Rock” also performed.) “What an amaaaazing evening! I’m humbled and honored. The energy in the crowd was beyond! Thank you Kiev!” Adam tweeted following the show. In other words — he did, he did rock them. Watch the full show above. More »

Taylor Swift And B.o.B Give Us A Slice Of Nashville Living In “Both Of Us” Video

From what we saw in the behind-the-scenes clip for “Both of Us,” you might think the video would feature giant insects of all shapes and sizes attacking poor B.o.B and Taylor Swift. Alas, the clip gives us a slice of Nashville living that includes much less fear, Raid, and squashing than we were led to believe. Instead, it’s a look at day-to-day life in the South, with plenty of random Americana — playing fetch with dogs, shooting pool, walking along railroad tracks. The Jake Nava-directed visuals perfectly complement the beautiful blend of rap and lush melody on the chorus. Though now that we know about all those bugs, maybe things aren’t as peaceful as they look.

When most artists reach the eighth (!!!) and final single from a crazy-successful album cycle, you’d think they’d be at home, fanning themselves with $100 bills while lounging in a hammock and having their assistant pour copious glasses of spiked lemonade into a golden goblet. But not Katy Perry. Just last night, the purple-haired chart dominatrix was working it on stage in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. for Jimmy Kimmel Live, performing her latest and last Teenage Dream (er, make that Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection) offering, “Wide Awake”.

That pavement-hitting ethic has paid off handsomely for Perry: of her seven previous singles, six of them have topped the Hot 100. And “Wide Awake”, currently sitting pretty at #4 on the chart, and at #2 on iTunes, is on its way up as well. Will the synthy, uplifting ballad also manage to clinch becoming the Song Of The Summer this year? Katy faces some tough competition from the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Bieber. Let’s take a closer look at “Wide Awake” below! More »

Azealia Banks, you wicked torturess! First we had to suffer through more than one delay of her EP 1991. (It finally dropped in late May, after initially being touted for an April release.) And now her Fantasea mixtape has been met with a push-back. At least it’s only a week later than was expected, this time. “Good News & Bad News,” Azealia (aka Young Rapunxel) tweeted today. “Good News is that ‘NATHAN’ ft. Styles P, will be dropping on 6/30… Bad News: #FANTASEA will now be dropping on 7/11 instead of 7/4.” Here’s hoping the Harlem rapstress’ debut LP Broke With Expensive Taste gets here some time before 2013.

Justin Bieber’s Tattoos Infuriate David Letterman

Things got awkward last night for Justin Bieber and David Letterman. During his late night appearance, Bieber showed off his brand new tattoo (he’s building quite the collection, no?) he got on his arm in honor of the release of his album BelieveLetterman wholly disapproved of all this ink on the 18-year-old, and grabbed his arm hard enough to make Bieber yap like a dog. Things didn’t get better when Letterman compared Bieber tattooing his body like defacing the Sistine Chapel, and Justin replied by calling it the “Sixteenth Chapel.” The TV host found this hilarious; meanwhile, the pop star didn’t appear to like being the butt of the joke.

Watch the second, less awkward half of the interview below (unless you consider Bieber attempting to sing opera as awkward), as well as Bieber performing his single “Boyfriend”. More »
