Charli XCX is giving us another taste of her new album this week. Friday (August 16), the 27-year-old teams up with Sky Ferreira on “Cross You Out.” She hopped on social media to break the news and share a brief snippet. In the process, she had nothing but positive things to say about her talented collaborator. “We are an ICONIC duo tbh,” the Brit gushed. “No but seriously, Sky, I’m so happy this collaboration has happened. I’ve always been a fan of your music/your vision. You are unique and brilliant and even though the music we make separately is sonically quite different, I feel like we sort of came up together in some senses.”

She shared some insight into the track, which sounds like another emotional anthem. “This song means a lot to me, for me it’s about leaving some pretty traumatic people from my past behind me,” Charli explained. “It feels euphoric that this song is about to be out in the world so soon.” “Cross You Out” follows previous tracks “1999,” “Blame It On Your Love” and “Gone.” Based on the snippet she teased, it sounds like it will be of a similarly high caliber. And, have no fear, Angels. Charli knows her content has been exemplary lately even if it hasn’t dominated the charts. “I’m kinda a chart flop recently but honestly lol if u think i care,” she quipped on Twitter.

With any luck, this will give her the chart-dominating hit she so obviously deserves. Either way, it is sure to be one of the best songs on the New Music Friday lineup this week. While we wait to hear it, check out Charli’s posts below.

⚔️ CROSS YOU OUT DROPPING ON FRIDAY!!! ⚔️ I am beyond excited for you to hear this song @skyferreira and I made together. We are an ICONIC duo tbh. No but seriously, Sky, I’m so happy this collaboration has happened. I’ve always been a fan of your music/your vision. You are unique and brilliant and even though the music we make separately is sonically quite different, I feel like we sort of came up together in some senses (remember that next level V mag cover & all the mice peeing on the givenchy 😬😬!!). This song means a lot to me, for me it’s about leaving some pretty traumatic people from my past behind me. It feels euphoric that this song is about to be out in the world so soon. Thank you for being a part of this with me. Endless love. Angels, I can’t wait for you to hear this one 💗
