Pop Perspective: Ed Sheeran's "Shape Of You"
We rate and review Ed Sheeran's new singles "Shape Of You" and "Castle On The Hill."

A sexy dancehall bop is the last thing you would expect from Ed Sheeran. The concept is a little off-putting in theory, but fans are lapping it up. “Shape Of You” is a gigantic smash — debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the charts in dozens of countries around the globe. The Jason Koenig-directed video arrived this morning (January 30) and it finds the Brit playing a rugged boxer/ladies man. Again, it’s a hard pill to swallow but he somehow pulls it off.

The plot? Ed, the hard-as-nails fighter, hits the gym to do manly things and spots a female boxer. She is helpless to resist his animal magnetism and amazing tattoos and they embark on a sporty romance. There’s a little trouble in paradise and an absurd ending, but it’s all rather fun. Having said that, one watch is more than enough for me. (I’ll stick with “Castle On The Hill” until the next single from ÷ arrives). Watch the ginger superstar work out, flirt and roam around shirtless up top.
