Halsey Builds Out The World Of ‘Manic’ With Her “Graveyard” Video

Halsey has not stopped moving since announcing her new album Manic. The 25-year-old introduced the project last month by painting the cover art on YouTube. Since then she’s shared the first string of dates for an accompanying world tour. The generous hitmaker also unveiled two songs (“Graveyard” and “clementine”) off the tracklist. Of the two, the former is rapidly shaping up to become her next big hit. It’s amassed more than 41 million Spotify streams in under a month. Those numbers were enough to help it debut just outside the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. And it will likely soar even higher on the back of a just-released video.

Out today (October 8), the visual brings the painfully honest anthem to life in a creative way. Directed by Anton Tammi, it opens with Halsey drawing in what appears to be her childhood bedroom. After the subject of her art (played by Sydney Sweeney) manifests in the room, the duo escapes to a carnival for a night of revelries. However, their time together is fleeting, and Sweeney’s absence appears to have a lasting impact on the “Without Me” chart-topper. Delivering creative visuals and a compelling plot, the end result tells its own story, but it does much more. It also continues to build out the world Halsey will be exploring this era.
