It’s here! Anticipation has been sky-high for Janet Jackson’s “Made For Now.” Rumors about the 52-year-old’s new single have been cycling around online since she was spotted onset with Daddy Yankee last month. Earlier this week, she took to social media to confirm her collaboration with the “Despacito” powerhouse and to share a release date. Today (August 17), the track arrived, and it is a seriously banging anti-FOMO anthem. Over a summery production, the living legend encourages listeners to be fully present in everything they do. “If you’re living for the moment, don’t stop. And celebrate the feeling. Go up,” she coos. “If you’re living for the moment, don’t stop. Cause I break those ceilings. Go up.” She reiterates that stance on the chorus. “We’re made for now. Not Tomorrow. Made for now.”

With any luck, “Made For Now” will be a major hit for the superstar. After going very retro on 2015’s Unbreakable, it is nice to hear her on something a little more current. It would be perfectly at home on radio, and it should be just as comfortable on streaming platforms. The official video is also a vibrant affair that could easily go viral. The Dave Meyers-directed release highlights the track’s global flair. Shot on location in Brooklyn, New York, it features dancers from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada, Trinidad and the United States. It also features some very chic looks. In one scene Janet pairs a full skirt with a fitted corset, T-shirt, denim jacket and top hat. In another, she tosses on a pair of harem pants and a patterned blazer to execute some intricate choreography of her own. The end result is a feel-good extravaganza that highlights the unifying powers of dance and music.

2018 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the “All Nite (Don’t Stop)” siren. After picking up the Icon Award and wowing the audience with an amazing set at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, she has continued grabbing positive headlines. The icon extended her State Of The World Tour and opened up about recording new music in an interview with Billboard. With such a fun track on her hands, it is easy to imagine her riding the wave right up the charts. Listen to “Made For Now” and watch the official video below below.
