Katy Perry goes avant-garde as Vogue‘s May 2017 cover star. While dressed exclusively in voluminous and architectural looks by fashion house Comme des Garçons, the “Chained to the Rhythm” star uses this editorial shoot to drive home her radical shift in aesthetic. Goodbye to the cheeky, “cutesy,” Betty Boop-inspired looks of “California Gurls.” Katy is more into anything “androgynous” lately. “I am happy to be another interpretation of myself.”

The story itself doesn’t offer many insights into her new album, other than the fact that it should feature 12 tracks. But Katy does confirm an upcoming tour for later this year. For that, she will be working once again with stage designer Es Devlin, who did the sets for her 2017 Grammys and Brit Awards performances. Can we expect more Donald Trump puppets, then? Perhaps. “She is fantastic,” Katy says, “and she knows about delivering a message.”
